Hypermart offers a complete web hosting solution to get your business on the web fast! Hypermart is a "For Business Only" service and will not host personal sites or pages with sexual content. Free services include 10 MB of server space, e-mail forwarding, an autosponder, Domain Name Service registration, full access to a cgi-bin directory and more. You can choose to have the required banner advertising appear embedded in your pages or as a separate "pop-up" window. Hypermart fully supports FrontPage98 and secure transactions at no additional fee. If you need a site for your business and want it free, I strongly recommend you check out their services. In addition to excellent services, Hypermart provides newsgroups where members provide exceptional technical support for each other. Hypermart is the host for this site, and I have been happily surprised by the quality of their services.

Virtual Avenue

Virtual Avenue offers 20MB of storage space for your web pages, e-mail forwarding, full access to your cgi-bin directory and supports FrontPage98 (For publishing only - no FrontPage extensions available). Their service is supported by banner advertising on each of your pages. Virtual Avenue does not currently support secure transactions. If you don't need FrontPage extensions or secure transactions, check out Virtual Avenue. (20 megs of free space is pretty generous)

WebJump

WebJump offers 25MB of free server space and unlimited bandwidth usage for your personal or business web site. CGI/Perl service has been suspended but WebJump states that it will be reinstated soon. Your page is displayed in a frame with the required advertising filling the top of the browser which can be troublesome for some browsers and can make it difficult for search engines to fine your pages. WebJump supports uploads via FTP but does not allow downloads, requiring careful back up of your site on your local computer. The original Sweet-n-Spicy web site is hosted on WebJump, stop by to see how it all fits together.

GeoCities offers 11 MB of free space for PERSONAL home pages and a POP e-mail account. GeoCities offers a variety of web authoring tools for beginner to expert. This service is much more than a free hosting service. GeoCities is now a major portal to the web with plenty of services available to its members. Individual sites are located in a themed communities with the entire population making up a mega-community of over 3 million members. Services are paid by required advertising either through pop up banners or their GeoGuide embedded navigation tool. There is no FrontPage support. To avoid the long URLs required (http://geocites.com/SiliconValley/Way/9576 is mine) or to host business activities GeoCities offers optional services for a fee. Angelfire Communications offers 5 MB free space for your pages and web based e-mail account. You can advertise your business here but not host any paid advertising. Services are paid by required advertising on your pages. Restrictions include no subdirectories other than an images subdirectory. I cannot recommend this site for serious business users other than to host doorway pages. However this site offers easy to use tools for the beginner to learn and practice with.

Tripod offers 11 MB of free space for web pages and a web based e-mail account. GeoCities offers two web authoring tools for beginner or expert. This service is much more than a free hosting service. Tripod is now a major portal to the web with plenty of services available to its members. Individual sites are located in a themed communities called pods with the entire population making up a mega-community of almost 3 million members. Services are paid by required advertising through pop up banners. There is no FrontPage support. Tripod offers additional web space and premier services for a fee.

Deja News provides web based community hosting centering around their newsgroup services. If you desire to incorporate a community into your Internet presence, consider visiting this site. Tools to create web pages, that both the founder and members can create, instant chat rooms, bulletin boards, and a variety of communication tools make creating a community easy. Some restrictions such as no direct access to the html behind many features and not allowing Java anywhere on their servers may frustrate some web designers. Using their html editor can be frustratingly slow. If you consider this service as an addition to your current web presence you will find it invaluable. You can publish your site using any editor including FrontPage and Netscape Composer.You can access your site using FTP or telnet/Shell. Services are paid through pop up advertising required on all of your pages. Secure transactions, extra web space and e-mail services and more are available for a fee.

FreeServers.com offers 12MB free space, unlimited e-mail aliases and FTP access. FreeServers.com not currently support FrontPage. Secure transactions are not included in their free services.
